Buying a car? You’ll likely check out several car websites to try to find the best car for you at the best price for your budget. We’d also like you to consider one more criterion: what website has you in mind? A car listing website is more than just information and pictures; you have to trust it. Ontariocars.ca has taken extra steps to build that trust.
All Listings Are From Registered Ontario Dealers
All car dealerships in Ontario, and their sales reps, managers, and owners must be registered with OMVIC, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council. It regulates car sales in Ontario. All registrants must abide by a code of ethics and comply with prescribed business standards. In addition, though, all car sellers on our website must be members of the Used Car Dealers’ Association and abide by our code of ethics.
This means that, if you have a problem with your purchase, you can undertake a course of action to solve the problem.
No Curbsiders
Curbsiders are people who act like a private seller but in fact run a business of selling used cars. It is perfectly legal in Ontario to sell your old car yourself; however, it is illegal to run a business selling cars without registering with OMVIC. Earlier this year, a curbsider was found guilty of rolling back odometers before selling the cars via a popular online marketplace. In one situation, he had rolled the odometer back by over 250,000 km.
Buying from curbsiders means you have no protection in your transaction. You will not find any curbsiders here.
Your Transaction Is Protected
If you purchase a vehicle listed on this site, you’re protected by OMVIC’s Motor Vehicle Dealer Compensation Fund, up to $45,000. Although your first course of action must be with the dealer, if the dealer does not solve your problem, and you are eligible for compensation, then you can apply. The fund was created in 1986, and since then has paid out more than $5 million to consumers.
All Vehicles on Our Website Are Free of Liens
Consumers usually pay for vehicles via financing these days. That means a used car could have a lien on it if a previous owner didn’t pay off the loan. All cars on ontariocars.ca are lien free, so you won’t experience any surprise repossessions.
Full Disclosure
All of these benefits lead up to this one: You will receive full disclosure, because this is required by law. This includes the vehicle’s history, condition, and previous use.
The listings on our website also offer all-in pricing, so aside from HST+licensing, the price you see is the price you’ll pay, assuming you add nothing to the vehicle at time of purchase. However, a dealer selling on this website cannot suddenly throw in extra costs “they forgot” to include in their listing.
The Best Car Listings Website in Ontario
All the cars listed on OntarioCars.ca are backed by government regulations and our organization’s code of ethics. Because we don’t allow private sellers to list on our website, no curbsiders list vehicles here. When you’re buying a used vehicle, you want to trust the person you’re buying from, and that’s precisely why we run these listings.
