Dads, repair tools, BBQs, and cars. They go together like hamburgers topped with melted cheese and sautéed onions, nestled between the two halves of a soft bun. So it’s fitting that an exotic car event takes place on Father’s Day in Toronto. And given the emphasis on fathers, running it as a fundraiser in support of Prostate Cancer Canada also suits. That’s the purpose of the Yorkville Exotic Car Show.
Exotic Cars to Make Dad Drool
The Yorkville show will separate the 110+ cars into corrals, mostly by marque: Ferrari, Porsche (two corrals), Morgan, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini. The other corrals mix marques: supercar, modified, American, and open class.
Where possible, earlier versions of a make will be displayed next to more current versions, allowing attendees to see the evolution of these gorgeous and powerful cars.
Growing Exotic Car Event
When the Yorkville show first began, it drew 15,000 attendees in its first year. Last year, its eighth year, attracted a whopping 95,000 people. Clearly, people love these cars.
This year, the event is running a Twitter campaign: by liking their account and replying to their pinned post, you’ll be entered in a chance to drive your dream car on the Infinite Motorsports racetrack. (As of June 6, only nine people have responded so far. Your odds of winning look pretty good!)
Fundraising for Prostate Cancer
The Yorkville Exotic Car Show is run by volunteers and supported by sponsors. Sponsors support one or more cars, and there are various levels of sponsorship available. The event’s website lists the top five cars and how much they’ve raised so far. These are the numbers as of June 6:

- 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica: $3,950
- 1974 Bentley T Saloon: $1,475
- 2011 Aston Martin DB11: $1,250
- 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe: $1,125
Prostate cancer, like any cancer, is scary. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, 58 Canadian men on average were diagnosed with prostate cancer each day in 2017, and 11 died from it, on average, every day. However, this form of cancer is also one of the easiest to cure if it’s detected early enough. So, an event like this is meant to both raise funds for further research but also to create awareness to encourage men to get their prostates checked.
Exotic Cars, Red Carpets, and Dad
This exotic car event will run Sunday, June 16, from noon until 5 p.m., in downtown Toronto. It’ll close down a strip of Bloor Street, between Avenue Road and Bay Street. The cars will be flanked by the high-end boutiques, hotels, and restaurants that mark Yorkville, and attendees—including Dad—will be able to walk the red carpet and get up close (but not inside) these beautiful cars.
